LOVE is back. No, literally. The sculpture created by American pop artist Robert Indiana returned to John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park Tuesday after being moved temporarily to an undisclosed location on Nov. 4.
The sculpture, initially installed in July, took a brief hiatus because “the pedestal under the sculpture is not up to the quality that the art center would like it to be,” said Jordan Powers, the director of marketing and public relations at Des Moines Art Center.
The pedestal was redone entirely, and reinstalled by the Des Moines Arts Installation team. The team of eight used a crane to lift the 1,300-pound sculpture onto a new pedestal.
For those who held their engagement and winter formal photo plans in front of the LOVE sculpture, can finally reschedule.
