Viewers of Nine’s Today will wake up with an almost entirely new breakfast team in 2020, as on-air changes continue on the embattled TV program.
On Wednesday, Nine – the owner of The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald – confirmed Perth newsreader Tracy Vo, sports presenter Alex Cullen and weather presenter Tim Davies will be joining the program in 2020, leaving just entertainment presenter Brooke Boney as the surviving member from the show’s 2019 makeover.
The new additions confirm the departure of newsreader Tom Steinfort who joined the program in January, and will be returning to 60 Minutes, and veteran weather presenter Steve Jacobs who first joined the show in 2005.
Longtime entertainment presenter Richard Wilkins, who this year shared the role on Today with Boney, will move into a permanent hosting role on Weekend Today with Rebecca Maddern, Nine announced.
The announcement follows news that Karl Stefanovic, a year after his exit from the role that won him a Gold Logie in 2011, would be returning to host the program with new co-host Allison Langdon, following the axing of this year’s hosts Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight.
The show had struggled with all-time low ratings this year in the wake of Stefanovic’s axing last December.
More to come.
