What do you do with 1,000 pounds of butter crafted into the image of professional sports mascots? Recycle it, of course.

As in previous years, the butter sculpture at the 2020 Farm Show has been deconstructed. The butter will be taken to Reinford Farms in Juniata County, in order for it to be converted into energy via a methane digester.

The video above shows the dismantling of this year’s butter sculpture, carried out by members of the Dauphin County 4H group, on Jan. 12. It shows how the butter was removed from the wire armature underneath in order to be transported to Reinford Farms.

All of the butter used in the sculpture was deemed inedible and donated by Land O’Lakes in Carlisle. The sculpture was debuted on Jan. 2 and was on display throughout the run of the Farm Show until Jan. 11.
